In spring/summer 2009, McQueen showed us an amazing collection inspired by Charles Darwin's ''The Origin of the Species''. The most outstanding accessories where the shoes, specially the Crystal Boots. This boots, above the ankle, reminded me how Lee thinks ''outside the box'', to put a crystal instead of a normal heel, just impresses me so much. Adorned with hundreds of crystals, for sure this boots are unique and beautiful.

McQueen for Givenchy
The first years of Alexander McQueen were spent in the Givenchy House of Haute Couture, during this time he probably developed his techniques and esthetic that made him famous and well-known. He later moved to a better design house, his own, Alexander McQueen. In the pictures above we can appreciate his focal point of view in the romantic and soft start that he had in the his first designer years.

Shoes of the Day - Ballerina Shoes 2010
In spring 2010, Alexander McQueen shocked everyone with 10 inch heels, but fell in love with the ''Ballerina'' shoes. The original shoes are 7 inches high with metallic pieces in the front and back. In the more wearable version, we can appreciate the detail in the front, like in the original. The most beautiful color was the baby pink, so delicate and high, a must have.

A Look Back of 2006
Vintage McQueen. After looking at the new collection by Sarah Burton, I must say, it was like a breath of fresh air for the firm. Then I remembered the true inspiration behind the entire collection. The Widows of Culloden, we see Alexander McQueen's interpretation of what would the widows wear after the battle. It truly was an amazing way to show the by-far presentation of his work, a live hologram of Kate Moss!! Everyone was so shocked at the little light in the middle of the runway that turned into a model. The great amount of sophistication was present throughout the entire show, from suits to dresses and gowns. The delicate and hard fabrics he used to show the detailed craftsmanship in every piece. The most outstanding piece in this collection were the birds, or the head pieces, I really believe that Alexander McQueen loved birds so much (if you look closely at all of his past collections).

Alexander McQueen Spring Summer 2011
Shoes
Details
Great start by Sarah Burton, she really pushed the expectations beyond. As we could see, she stayed true to the McQueen esthetic, with beyond design cuts and shapes. Many variations of colors, we could see many whites, blacks, and bright rustic colors. Feathers and hay dominated the use of fabric. The detailed craftsmanship really was present with the hand painted feather butterflies, hay constructions all over the pieces and hand carved shoes with porcelain effect. To be honest, this collection was like a combinations of all McQueen's past collections, some shapes and cuts were very similar to Lee's work. But in general, its was an amazing collection that showed that McQueen is still alive.
